Today we met in the
computer lab and worked all morning on our “How Strange are Strangers”-project.
The students brainstormed various topics and decided in groups to create
presentations around the topics, showing their cultural observations
(surprises, differences, similarities, etc.) during our stay here at the
Freihof and with their host families and new friends. This is a great project to
summarize experiences, as well as reflect on our stay and “digest” the newly
found intercultural understandings. Tomorrow we will present to the students at
the Freihof Gymnasium. This will be great fun!! I decided to bring those
presentations back to America
this year, as I believe it would be fantastic for my students to present these
to my German classes at the beginning of the year! We have been amazed at how
creative our group is. What a pleasure to see all this learning going on while
we are having a blast!!
We also had a
birthday to celebrate today. Larson turned 19 and got sung to in Deutsch. He
received a small gift (a Kinderueberraschungsei)…more surprises on the way for
his b-day but psssst…it’s a surprise and he doesn’t know it yet (I doubt that
he is reading the blog, so I think we are save). :)
