Herrenchiemsee, Frauenchiemsee...last day in Munich:(
On our last full day in Munich, accompanied by the most fantastic weather imaginable, we went on an outing to the islands Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee in Bavaria's largest lake (the Chiemsee). We loved looking at King Ludwig's unfinished Schloss (castle) that was built after the model of Versailles. Natasha, who had been to Versailles with her Mom just a few weeks earlier, confirmed that it looked almost identical. We took another boat out to the Fraueninsel, where we first had a wonderful lunch and then headed out to the beach. Some of us walked around the whole island first, which can be done in about 1/2 an hour or so, but is incredibly beautiful. There is a monastery there with a gorgeous, well kept garden, many artists live on this island and have little shops to visit (potteries, glass blowing etc)
