In Ulm, um Ulm und um Ulm herum.

What a fantastic outing! Today we took the train to Ulm and walked straight downtown to the “Ulmer Muenster” (Cathedral), which is the tallest cathedral in the world and took over 700 years to build. It was a beautiful day and we climbed the 780 steps to the top where we enjoyed breathtaking views. After a tour of the cathedral and a lunch, we took the bus to a place by the Iller (a river that flows into the Danube) where two guides of an outdoor company was waiting for us with our canoes. After some important instructions on how to paddle and steer we were let lose with two guides in boats of 4-5 at a time. We canoed about 3.5 km to a beach where we pulled out the boats and went floating in the fantastically cooling river. We had so much fun and I was quite impresses with our kids’ canoeing skills!! Then back into the boats and another 2.5 km to Ulm. We canoed into Ulm (a fantastic way to get into Ulm…), then got out, dried off, changed and walked to the oldest part of town where we viewed the crooked house which is now “Hotel Schiefes Haus”.
Another unique fact we learned today, the Danube flows through 10 countries, can you name them??
