Mercedes Museum and Stuttgarter Wilhelma (Zoo)

TGIF…and we didn’t have to go to school today:)
We left Goeppingen in the morning to go to Stuttgart for our field trip to the Mercedes Museum and the Stuttgart zoo. The Mercedes Museum (which, by the way, is located right next to the VFB soccer training fields, and the Germans were anxiously hoping to spot their favorite player for an autograph) has fantastic cars to see from the very beginning of the car with the invention of the first gas fueled motor by Daimler and Benz, until today. Each floor of the museum is dedicated to a different decade and has the various Mercedes models of that decade, as well as pictures, descriptions and video clips of the major historic events that happened throughout that decade. You can see leisure cars, service cars, cars specifically made for famous people, race cars etc. all made by the Mercedes company. Not only car enthusiasts love this museum.
In the afternoon we went to the Wilhelma, the Stuttgart zoo, which is considered one of the most beautiful zoos in Europe. Among other things it has a fantastic variety of animals and beautiful botanical gardens, also a Sequoia forest and the special exhibit was an Australian landscape.

With two field trips in a row the students were very happy, in great spirits and we are observing ensuing friendships between the Germans and the Americans.
After another exciting day in Deutschland the kids are off to join their host families and friends for weekend activities.
